Newsletter November 2018

Dear WAIG members and other interested parties

Our letter to Airport Management regarding access control matters on 23 October 2018 refers.
To date WAIG has not received feedback regarding this letter as COT does not recognise us as a representative body. We are in the process of trying to resolve this and will keep you advised.

On a more positive note we are pleased to report that Airport Management is currently engaging three tenants (on the WAIG committee) on matters of mutual concern. These tenants are Henk Kraaij (Fly Jetstream), Leon Potgieter (AHRLAC) and Hendrik Venter (Falcon Air). The WAIG Committee invites your comments regarding this arrangement and/or the individuals involved in the process. Failing to do so we will assume that you, as with the WAIG committee, have no objection.

We urge all tenants to treat security staff manning the gates with dignity and respect. They are only doing their job and do not make the rules.

For those that experience difficulty with maintenance issues relating to Council property, we would like to recommend the following link: wonderboommaintenance@tshwane.gov.za. It seems to be a relatively effective way of reporting maintenance matters with the added benefit of an audit trial. You are welcome to CC WAIG in maintenance matters that affect other tenants as well.

Additionally, we have some great news for the Airport in 2019. The global show for general aviation, which has been successfully taking place at Lake Constance in Germany for over 40 years, is now landing in South Africa. This was made possible thanks to a close partnership between Messe Friedrichshafen and Messe Frankfurt. From July 4 to 6, 2019, Messe Frankfurt South Africa will showcase the first AERO SOUTH AFRICA right here at the Wonderboom National Airport. This is wonderful news as this event will be the first business to business (B2B) aviation EXPO focusing solely general aviation in over 30 years! For the tenants, WAIG has negotiated preferential pricing for exhibitors.

Lastly, the final WAIG Braai for 2018 will be held on the 28 November 2018, 17:30 at Villa San Giovanni. We have also arranged for the CEO of Messe Frankfurt to join us. He will have a short presentation on AERO for the tenants, so please do attend. We will be sending the official invitation out shortly.

We thank you all for your continued support.
